Coaches

Adam Farber (Coach/Owner): 

Coach Adam has been around pools all of his life.  He grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, where he started swimming competitively at the age of 5.  He swam through high school and then a couple of years later, he started teaching lessons for Hubbard Family Swim School.  After teaching for them for a couple of years, Adam moved to Nevada where he taught lessons at multiple facilities, which lead to coaching positions at Sparks High School and the University of Nevada.  Adam then moved to Oregon and after working at a local swim school for a couple of years, started Farber Swim School in 2007.  Not only is he involved with all aspects of the swim school, but he is also the Head Coach of Sunset High School’s men’s and women’s swim teams.

Adam is a US Swim School Association level 2 instructor as well as an American Swim Coaches Association level 3.  He is also certified in CPR, First Aid and Lifeguarding.

Dana Paulino (Coach)

Dana has been an assistant coach and swim instructor for FSS Penguins since January, 2007. Raised outside of Portland, Dana started swimming recreationally at an early age and later became involved with the instruction side of aquatics in college. She attended Oregon State University where she worked as a lifeguard and safety instructor. After graduation, Dana worked for a local swim school before joining FSS. While not a competitive swimmer, she respects and encourages a wide range of competition levels.

Dana has experience with instructing all age groups and skill levels. She is also certified in CPR, First Aid and Lifeguarding.

Abby Mulvihill (Coach):

Coach Abby has been around the swimming community for her entire life because she is a swim coach’s daughter.  She grew up in Ukiah,California, where she started swimming competitively at the age of 6.
She swam through high school and played water polo competitively in high school as well. Abby swam at the collegiate level during her
freshman year at Linfield College, but then decided to solely focus on
academia and take the opportunities to study abroad in South Africa
and Ireland. Although she took a couple of years off in college, Abby
has taught swim lessons since she was 15 and was the assistant coach
for two summers for her hometown USA team before attending Linfield.
She graduated from Linfield College in May, 2010, with a Bachelor’s of
Science degree in Psychology.

In September Abby will begin the process of earning her Master’s
degree in Conflict Resolution with a mediation concentration at
Portland State University. She hopes to enter a career in which
serving as a mediator is her main focus. Abby loves Portland and hopes
to settle here once she is done with her studies.

Abby is also certified in CPR, First Aid and Lifeguarding.
